Let’s Talk Tea – The Tea Spot – Morning Mojo | Review

Hey there Teacups, it’s time for another Let’s Talk Tea post! (I really hope you aren’t getting sick of reading these). This time around I’m going to be reviewing The Tea Spot’s – Morning Mojo (black tea based) blend. As I’ve said before I have absolutely loved every single blend I’ve tried from the Tea Spot and as a result each time I try a new one my expectations are incredibly high, but they always live up to them each time and this one was no different. (If you haven’t read any of my past posts featuring The Tea Spot you can find them all here)

Dry LeavesSweet – Earthy – Vanilla – Honey – Orange – Slight Woody

Ingredients: Organic Puerh, Organic Black Tea, Organic Orange Peel and Natural Vanilla Flavouring. Certified organic by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

I’m honestly surprised that I managed to wait until now to try this blend because it was the first one I opened and smelt when my package from The Tea Spot arrived and I adored its aroma. It smells incredibly sweet and has a delightful citrus element too, aside from some slight earthy and woody notes that were very much in the background the puerh element of this blend is almost non-existent in the aroma. My only hope was that it would come through much more in the taste and the sweet, citrus and vanilla notes were just overpowering it.

Brewing Guide: 1 Heaping tsp per 8oz of Water (I use 2 but I like my tea strong) – Use boiling water and steep for 3-5 mins. The Tea Spot’s sample packets contain 5 servings following their guidelines for steeping. But remember that you can re-steep so there are at least 10 cups of magic in there.

Tea Tasting Notes

As I’ve previously said I’ve loved every blend I’ve tried from The Tea Spot and despite my pervious worries from the aroma alone I was completely blown of out the water by how breathtakingly good this blend is. I think I would even go as far as to say that it’s my favourite of all the blends I’ve tried from The Tea Spot so far, it’s just that good. I’ve already mentioned how much I loved the aroma, but the taste was on a completely different level and took me by surprise a little bit. Normally with blends when it has a nice aroma it never comes through in the taste, but this is clearly the exception.

I was a little bit worried that the puerh and black tea would be muted but they really are the shining stars of this blend the vanilla and orange both pair perfect with their woody, earthy and malty notes to create a cup of absolute magic. It’s a tiny bit drying in the mouth but not enough to affect my overall enjoyment of the blend. DO NOT ADD ANY SWEETENER TO THIS BLEND – It’s naturally very sweet and adding anymore to it would make this almost undrinkable and ruin it completely. This is perfect steeped hot, and I wouldn’t suggest cold brewing it, I don’t think it would shine as much as it does when steeped hot and you just wouldn’t get the most from it. I’m going to use what I have left of this (which is probably about one more serving) to make a tea latte because I think I would work perfectly and I’ll post the results over on my Instagram and twitter.

This will be my last post featuring The Tea Spot for a while but considering how much I’ve loved every single blend of their that I’ve tried it won’t be the last time you see them feature on my blog or my Instagram. They’ll be coming back time and time again. I’m so thankful that they wanted to collaborate and that I had the pleasure of trying so of their amazing blends. They are a shining star in today’s tea industry and their team is incredibly talented and clearly put so much care and attention into their work. If you have the time to check them out, please do you won’t regret it.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
