Hey there Teacups! I’m so glad autumn is here not only because it’s my favourite season but because the blends that are normally released by companies at this time of the year are all always so beautiful, heart warming and perfect for cosy nights. Tea Spectral’s new blend Sweater Weather is the first autumnal blends I’ve tried so far this autumn and it was definitely a great way to start off the season. It’s a decaf black tea blend with  quintessential autumn blend flavours like cinnamon, star anise, ginger and orange that instantly make you want get cosy and relax

This is our take on the ever popular flavour of pumpkin spice this season. We took much of the flavour profile from the local fare of the cafes and bakeries at this time of year. Dry Leaves

Ingredients: Decaf Black Tea, Rooibos, Cinnamon, Ginger Root, Star Anise, Orange Peel, Natural & Artificial Flavouring (V) It’s hard to put into words just how amazing this blends aroma is when I think of autumn this is exactly the aroma I think of. It’s nutty, malty, woody and jam packed with a mouth-watering blend of aromatic spices. It’s quite a powerful aroma as well in face I could smell it before I had even opened the sachet that it’s in as soon as I opened the Parcel my room was filled with the aroma which only got stronger once I opened the sachet.

Tea Tasting Notes

I’ll be really honest here when I opened the package Tea Spectral sent and I found out that this blend was a decaf black tea blend I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy it or not because I never normally enjoy decaf tea. But it surprised me and I actually really enjoyed it. It’s much lighter than I thought it would be and doesn’t have the classic strong malty notes I expect from a black tea but I can only assume that’s because it’s a decaf tea and it’s probably to be expected. However the nutty notes from the rooibos,  the slight citrus notes from the orange peel and the delicious blend of species more than made up for the decaf teas short falls and when all combined together they almost perfect replicate the taste of a classic spiced carrot cake and it’s a absolute flavour sensation.

  I expected this to be rather drying in the mouth but it’s actually quite smooth and I think that the fact its decaf tea based as if this was a caffeinated black tea paired with all the spices I have no doubt it would have a very dry mouth feel. Towards the back of my mouth it was a tiny bit bitter so I would suggest adding just a small amount of honey to get rid of that (you don’t need a lot though half a teaspoon is more than enough). I definitely think this would make a great base for a tea latte and would be a great tea to use for a tea infused carrot cake so I’ll definitely be experimenting with this blend over the next few weeks to see what I can do with it to get the most pit of it. I’m so thankful that Tea Spectral chose to send this blend to me as I’ve really enjoyed drinking it and I can’t wait to relax on cold winter nights with a cup full of autumn.
