Let’s Talk Tea | Magic & Science Gals – Vanilla Cookie | Review

Hey there Teacups! I’ve been doing my best to keep up with blog posts over the past few days when my migraines start to subside they are often the first things I want to get done. But sometimes they don’t subside and I can’t get them posted, I’ll do my best to make sure it doesn’t happen to often but if ever I post doesn’t go up on a day when it should you can assume that’s why. You’ve all been incredibly understanding over the last few weeks/months and I’m so thankful for that it means the world and stops me worrying that I’m letting you all down.

Anyway enough of me moaning and complaining back to what you’re all here for the review. For today’s Let’s Talk Tea post I’m going to be reviewing Magic & Science Gals – Vanilla Cookie blend. This blend was sent to me along with a few others to try and while the me of a few years ago would have gone for this blend first, I wanted to hold off on it and try a few of the others first and I’m actually really glad I did.43395181_1798820123520071_5135583217205641216_n

Here’s what Magic & Science Gals have to say about this blend on their website: Vanilla Cookie is an Assam black tea. The kitchen elves have spent hours scraping and chopping tiny pieces of the expensive vanilla bean to blend with elder blossoms into the tea. This tea will truly make you happy as real vanilla beans are natural antidepressants, so important during the wintertime, but also important year round. As the tea brews, you can smell the hints of vanilla which soften the flavours of the rich Assam black tea. The caffeine from the black tea will get you upon your feet. When combined with the other ingredients, it will increase your digestive power and metabolism. Most teas on the market use only artificial vanilla flavouring which does nothing for your health or mood. Invite the kitchen elves to your table and enjoy a Vanilla Cookie…tea, of course”. (Can we just take a moment before I carry on to appreciate how cute and magical the descriptions on the teas are on their website)

Dry Leaves

Ingredients: Assam, Vanilla Beans, Chrysanthemum, Vanilla Flavouring (V)43574628_957758311100487_451894631861321728_nIf you bake you’ll know exactly what I mean when I say that this blend smells exactly like vanilla sugar cookies. Aroma wise it definitely lives up to its name with a strong sweet vanilla note and a subtle malty underpinning. My only hope with this blend after loving its aroma so much was that it’s taste would be just as amazing.

Tea Tasting Notes

Because this blends aroma was so good I was expecting it to let me down a little bit when it came to taste but I was wrong. It’s just as amazing in taste as it was in aroma and its a perfect flavor recreation of iced vanilla sugar cookies. Normally with blends like this they loose a lot once you start of steep them but this one stood its ground and I was actually able to do 2 steeps with the leaves I used. The second steep wasn’t as strong and flavourful but I honestly expected that. It’s a naturally sweet blend but I would recommend adding half a teaspoon or so of honey or agave to it as it makes the vanilla notes even stronger and really rounds it off well, I always do that with blends that have vanilla in them as it amplifies it and makes the blends even more indulgent.43183288_698307540548160_2819055115338514432_nlWith the vanilla being so strong in the aroma I was a little bit worries that it was going to overpower the tea base but its actually a really well balanced blend and the malty/woody notes from the tea pair perfectly with the sweetness of the vanilla. I would recommend having this without milk but with a little bit of honey and a sugar cookie. I think this will make for really tasty tea infused vanilla cookies so I’ll definitely be experimenting with what I have left of the blend (make sure you are following @thebrewteafulbakery on insta to see what I bake). If you love black tea and vanilla sugar cookies this is definitely the blend for you, I’m incredibly thankful I was give the chance to try it and I’ll definitely be treating myself to some more of it as soon as my Tea buying ban is over.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
