Let’s Talk Tea | Eteaket – Second Flush Darjeeling | Review

Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Eteaket‘s Second Flush Darjeeling. You all know just how much of a Darjeeling fan I am so when I was this in the package that Eteaket sent I couldn’t wait to try it and see what it was like. It’s been sitting in my ”need to try” box for a while now and it’s been hard not being able to try it until it was time for me to write my review. 49811628_236094553944166_542513489709629440_nHere’s what Eteaket have to say about this tea in their website: Our Second Flush Darjeeling is the most sophisticated and suave of all our teas! Known as the champagne of teas  this ‘vintage’ has a clean smooth, floral flavour with a hint of refreshing fruitiness. Traditionally an afternoon tea but this tea can be enjoyed anytime of the day, from your finest bone china or that old mug you got from your granny three Christmas’ ago. Whether you’re a high-roller or strictly low-rent, this is a taste of the high-life.

Tea Tasting Notes

Since starting this blog I’ve ben given the chance to try a lot of amazing Darjeeling’s I’ve had first flush ones, second flush ones and even a blend that uses both and while they have all been nice I would say that this is probably the best second flush Darjeeling’s that I’ve had in a long time. I knew to expect good things from this teas as everything I’ve ever tried from Eteaket has been amazing the quality of their teas, tea blends and tisane it phenomenal. This Darjeeling is quite rich and fresh and easily forgives some skimping. the liquor is dark copper with gold. There is some honey and floral and creamy notes in the taste, along with fair bit of earth and wood — which you don’t normally fine in many second flush Darjeeling’s. 49678606_2228997670648156_4994810759226589184_n.jpgNormally I find that Darjeeling’s can have quite a dry mouthfeel but this one is incredibly smooth which makes it even better. It’s much stronger than a lot of second flush Darjeeling’s I’ve tried which I think is what it stands out for me over everything else that I’ve tried, if you are a fan of second flush Darjeeling’s this you will enjoy this to no end. It’s not a very naturally sweet blend but it’s perfect the way it is and doesn’t need any added sweetener at all Darjeeling’s never need added sweetener it ruins them. As soon as I have drunk my way through all of the Darjeeling’s I have in my tea stash this is  what I will restock with over everything else.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
