Let’s Talk Tea | TEAELI – Chocolate Chai | Review

Hey there Teacups! I’m back again today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Teaeli’s Chocolate Chai blend. Teaeli very kindly sent me a box jam packed with some of their amazing blend and as soon as I opened It and saw this blend was in there I knew it had to be the first one I tried. All of the blends they sent are inspired by desserts but you all know how my I love chai so all the other blends in the box had no chance compared to this one. I’m still looking forward to trying all of the other blends though as something with an insane sweet tooth they are all perfect for me and I know I’m going to enjoy them all to no end throughout this year. 50009514_304442110190174_6479947589042044928_n.jpgHere’s what Teaeli have to say about this blend on their website: Chai can be had many ways and having it with chocolate is a great way to go about it! Adding a rich and bold flavour to the traditional flavours and spices in this blend, this tea is warning and comforting. A must try for chai lovers!49949338_958493001017622_7456833618434850816_n.jpgIngredients: Ceylon Black Tea (72%), Cardamom (10%), Liquorice (10%), Chocolate Chips (8%) and  added flavour (1%)  | When I first read that this blend had chocolate chips in it I was expecting small pieces like the kind you would find in cookies so when I opened the tin and saw just how bit they were I was shocked and even more excited to try the blend that I previously had been.

Tea Tasting Notes

With the base of this blend being a chai I had no doubt I was going to love that aspect of it but when it came to the chocolate element I was a little bit hesitant because it was either going to break of make this blend because when it comes to chocolate in blends there is no in-between. They are either amazingly good or amazingly bad so I tend to not let myself get my get excited when I see chocolate blends and I never buy them unless I’ve had a chance to sample them first. For this tasting session I tried this blend on it’s own to start off with (like I do with all of the teas I try) and then found that it needed just a little something to bring out the chocolate notes a little so I added a little bit honey and they instantly became a lot stronger so I would deffinelty say it needs just a little bit of honey/ your preferred sweetener.50086278_295500044338455_5854380371109478400_n.jpgI also tried this as a latte make on the stove top with oat milk and a dash of honey and lets just say it was one of the best tea decisions I’ve made in a long time. This blend is a blend made to be prepared as a latte the creamy chocolate notes are amplified by the oat milk and while it’s nice enough on it’s own it’s absolutely phenomenal as a latte. The cardamom was a little to strong for me in the cup I had without the milk and it overpowered the tea almost completely but the milk muted that and the black tea was able to shine through and add some delicious malty & nutty notes to each mouthful balancing out the blend perfectly. One of the best things about this blend is that even thought it has liquorice in it you can’t taste it at all, as a person who can’t stand liquorice I was very happy about that. This has to be one of the best chocolate chai blends I’ve ever tried and I will deffinelty look into repurchasing this as soon as the tin I have runs out.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5

If you want to find out more about Teaeli and purchase some of this blend for yourself, you can do both here. As always if you have any questions either stick them in the comments or send them to me on Twitter/Instagram @teaisawishblog and I’ll answer them all as soon as I can.

Speak to you all again soon. Happy Steeping – Kimberley

  1. Hmm chocolate tea. I miss hot chocolate because of the dairy but this doesn’t seem to have any. Thanks for the rec!
