Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Forest Witch Teas – Sailor Moon blend. Most of you probably don’t know this about me but I’m a huge Sailor Moon fan and I have been for a long time so when Mia (The founder of Forest Witch Teas) and I were organising our collaborations and she asked me which of the blends she makes I would like to try I went straight for her sailor moon blends and she was kind enough to send me 5 different ones to try. Of course I chose the Sailor Moon blend to start with could I really have started with any of the other Sailor Scouts? The sailor moon blend is a honeybush based blend that’s supposed to taste just like bubble-gum which is a perfect flavour choice for sailor moon inspired blend you just know she would love it.
Here’s what Mia has to say about this blend on the Forest Witch Teas website: One of my childhood heroines, Sailor Moon fights for love and justice! This tea starts with a fruity honeybush base, then blends banana, cherry, and strawberry flavours to create a delicious, fancy bubblegum tea! Topped with cornflowers and calendula petals.Ingredients: organic honeybush, organic hibiscus, organic calendula, organic cornflower, flavour (V) | The dry ‘leaves’ of this blend smell just like strawberry hubba bubba bubblegum with a ever so floral undertone and a sweet vanilla note from the honeybush. It smells like it would make for a great latte if there wasn’t hibiscus in it.
Tea Tasting Notes
There was a time during my tea journey where I couldn’t stand either rooibos or honeybush (yes they are different) but overtime I’ve grown to love the both of them if they are used in blends probably and aren’t overpowering and I prefer honeybush much more than rooibos. But I won’t lie when I saw that this blend has both honeybush and hibiscus in it I was a little bit worried but because the aroma of the blend is absolutely delicious decided not to let my worries get in the way and jumped straight into trying it. For this tasting session I tried this blend both hot and iced I would never normally have a honeybush based blend iced but with this having Hibiscus in it I thought it might be worth a try to see how it worked out.
With this blend having hibiscus in it I really thought I would enjoy it more iced but I actually preferred the hot version! The bubblegum element of the tisane was much stronger in the hot version and it was much more sweet and fruity, the iced version was almost all hibiscus and the fruity notes were nowhere near as strong which I didn’t expect at all fruity tisane are almost always better iced but I think because of the addition of honeybush this is the exception. In both versions I made the bubblegum was a bit more muted than it was in the dry aroma but I’m it wasn’t completely overpowered, I think the natural sweetness helps a lot with that. I don’t know how Mia was able to create such naturally fruity , sweet, bubblegum filled blend with only a few ingredients she’s very clearly magic and she needs to teach me her secrets. Since the day I did this tasting session I’ve not stopped drinking this I’ve probably had 1-2 cups everyday so what I have left of it won’t last long in my house and no matter the cost f shipping I’ll be ordering so much more of this blend.
Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
