Let’s Talk Tea | TEAELI – Almond Truffle | Review (Black Tea)

Hey there Teacups! I’ back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing TEAELI’s  – Almond Truffle blend. If you’ve been reading my blog since at least the start of this year you’ll know that I’ve Tried two blends from Teaeli so far their chocolate chai blend and their caramel Brûlée blend and I loved both of them. Because I enjoyed them both so much I went into trying this blend with very high expectations and I was anxious to see if it was as good as the other two blend I had had the pleasure of trying before it. With it being a dessert tea and being black tea based it’s right up my street so It would have had to be really bad for me not to enjoy it. 53067853_556663604739296_1017482163353812992_n.jpgHere’s What Teaeli themselves have to say about this blend: We blended chunky almonds, delicious tiramisu and luscious apple with Ceylon black tea to create a can be sipped all-day and helps you to keep smiling! Some say it’s like Christmas in a cup.. We agree. Lightly perfumed for a smooth finish. 53082614_627102674369781_3581919161980289024_n.jpgIngredients: pure Ceylon black tea, almond chunks, Apple Chunks, Added Flavour. (Contains Nuts so not suitable for those who very allergies)

Tea Tasting Notes

While this blend is nice but sadly I get next to no almond from it aside from an ever so slight nutty-ish note in the aftertaste. It’s naturally sweet, malty and very fruity but the apple takes over everything and overpowers a lot of the subtle notes that the almond chunks would have provided. I expected this to taste a little bit like bakewell tarts or almond sugar cookies but it was nowhere near that and my as well have just been apple black tea. Both the black tea and the apple are the strongest notes and while they pair together really well and the blend is actually really nice (especially iced) it’s name is ‘almond truffle’ and it doesn’t live up to it. Had the almond notes been much stronger and the apple notes be a little more muted would make this blend perfect and I would look upon it with a little less disappointment. 53834244_582630292240042_6344004529729568768_n.jpgWhile I was slightly disappointed by how much this blend lacks much Almond I won’t lie it is still a delicious blend and I love apple and black tea together they pair perfectly and make for a naturally sweet, malty and delicate brew especially iced so I do enjoy this blend despite the lack of almond and I’ll certainly get a lot of use out of what I have left of it and I think it will be a great blend to experiment with in baking and things like that. Mouthfeel wise because it is so naturally sweet because of the apple it has a very light and smooth mouthfeel and it can actually be really refreshing when it’s iced. If I had to pick one thing that it reminds me off I would say that it reminds me of candy/caramel apples and makes me think of fairgrounds and Halloween so it has a strange feeling of nostalgia too it for me. I just wish it had, had a lot more almond to it and the apple notes were lighter this would be a really well balanced blend so maybe giving it a few tweaks might be a good idea.

Overall Teacup Rating: 4/5
