Hey there Teacups! I decided to take a little break towards the end of last week due to problems with migraines but I’m doing my best to get my schedule back to normal and after this post I should be all caught up. In this Let’s Talk Tea post I’m going to be reviewing Forest Witch Tea’s – Sailor Jupiter blend which is a green rooibos based blend inspired by almond cake topped with roses (how amazing does that sound). I’ve tried two blends so far from Forest Witch Teas (Sailor Moon & Sailor Mars) and if you’ve read my reviews of them you’ll know but how much I loved them so I deffinelty went into trying this blend with high expectations. Mia the founder of Forest Witch Tea’s is insanely talented though and I know by now that If she tells you a blend is going to taste like almond cake topped with roses then it going to replicate those flavours perfectly. (I warn you now once you try one of Mia’s blends you may has well just have all of your money to her because you won’t want to spend it anywhere else). Here’s what Mia the founder of Forest Witch Teas has to say about this blend: Sailor Jupiter, Soldier of Thunder and Courage, Protection, and Caring, Lita/Makoto’s tea is comfort in a cup. Green rooibos lends its vanilla-like flavour for a delicious slice of almond cake, topped with roses. It’s dessert in a cup!
organic green rooibos tea, organic almonds, organic rose petals, flavour.
Tea Tasting Notes
As you all know I’m not a huge fan of normal rooibos but when it comes to green rooibos i’m slowly becoming a huge fan there just something much more delicate and sweet about it that I enjoy much more so I was very glad to see that this was a green rooibos based blend and I knew I was going to enjoy it from the moment I read it’s description and I smelt it for the first time. The aroma of this blend when dry is delicate and sweet for the most part it’s rose and vanilla but there is a ever so slight undertone of almond it it as well it’s unlike any green rooibos blend I have ever smelt before and I could tell that while the taste was going to be unique that I was going to enjoy it to no end. For this tasting session I tried it on it’s own and then had it will a little honey as it just needed a slight sweet lift to round each mouthful off well and calm down the rose a little. But I do think it would make a great latte as well so I’ll be giving that a try as soon as possible. For the most part this blend is quite well balanced but the rose is just a little bit too strong for me but I do sometimes struggle with rose so while it’s too strong for me it could be the perfect strength for everyone else. I found that adding a little bit of honey and lifting the overall sweetness of the blend muted the rose a little bit and balanced it all out. Almond wise that element of the blend is the only element that I wish was a little bit stronger I love almond in tea and tisane blends and I wish it was less of a background note in the blend. I totally understand what Mia meant when she said that this blend tastes like almond cake topped with roses or rose frosting it replicates it almost perfectly and I can’t wait to use it to make some ‘tea’ infused cakes or cookies during spring. This is the perfect spring time blend and I think it will make for some delicious spring time bakes and iced lattes in the summer.
Overall Teacup Rating: 4.9/5 | If I hadn’t have had to balanced out the rose notes I would have given this a five out of five. Remember though that just because they were too strong for me doesn’t mean they won’t be perfect for you so you should still give this blend a try and see if it’s your cup of tea.
If you want to find out more about Forest Witch Teas and purchase some of this delightful blend for yourself, you can do both here.
