Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Forest Witch Tea’s – Sailor Mercury blend. I’ve loved each and every blend I’ve tried so far from Forest Witch Teas and I’m so sad that after this I only have one more of their blends to try and that I’m coming close to my last post featuring them (for now). This is a green tea blend with rose, peppermint and a hint of vanilla and when I first read the description of it I was so happy because I it made me think of Sailor Mercury and how much she would love to drink a cup of this blend to start off her day while reading a good book.

Tea Tasting Notes

I’ll be honest with you all when I first read that this blend had both mint and rose in it I didn’t think I was going to end up enjoying it. In my mind that just wasn’t a combo I ever thought would have worked but surprisingly it does and its actually really nice. This was not a blend I would have picked up for myself in the shop but I’m really glad that Mia chose to include this in the package that she sent. It managed to completely change my opinion on a combo of mint and rose within only a few sips and I love it when blends can do that.

The mint was deffinelty the strongest note in this blend but while it was the strongest note it was far from overpowering which is what I have come to expect from peppermint and normally it’s too much for me. The green tea base provided a nice soft vegetal background with a overall light mouthfeel. The rose is the only area in which this blends falls flat for me because there wasn’t enough in the blend to balance it all off and while it was present it was a little more muted than I would have liked it to be. With this blend having a green tea base and both mint and rose it was quite drying but before I had even tried it I knew that was going to be the case and it didn’t effect my enjoyment at all.

So far I’ve only had this hot (for this tasting session) but I really do think that this would probably be really nice iced or as a tea pop during the summer especially in the morning as the mint is really refreshing and would be a great Kickstarter for those mornings where you are struggling to get up and go. I’ll have to do some experiments with this blend and see if I can use it for some tasty recipes over the next few months. If I do I’ll come back to this post and update it as the months go by. After this I only have one more of the Sailor Moon blend from, Forest Witch Teas to review (that will be going up at the start of may) but keep your eye on my blog for more posts featuring other collections from them in the future.
