Let’s Talk Tea | Adagio Tea – Berry Crème Compote (Tisane) | Review

Hey There Teacups! I’m back today with another Lets Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Adagio Tea’s – Berry Crème Compote tisane. A sample of this blend was very kindly sent to me by Adagio along with some of their other teas and I simply had to make sure I reviewed this as soon as my health and blogging schedule would allow it because as soon as I opened the packet to smell it I couldn’t wait to drink it the aroma it has honestly made my mouth water so holding myself back from drink it would have been torture. It smelt just like a dessert we have here in the UK called Eton Mess, consisting of fresh fruit (mostly berries), lots of cream (whipped normally) and meringue and I was eager to see if it tasted similar to that dessert as well.

Here’s what Adagio have to say about this blend over on their website: ”The sweetest selection of berries creates a tart compote herbal blend, perfectly accented by the luxurious scent and flavour of lightly whipped vanilla cream. Transport your taste buds to the finest Parisian patisserie with this delicate tisane.”

Ingredients: rose hips, hibiscus, apple pieces, blue cornflowers, natural crème flavour, raspberries, natural blueberry flavour, natural strawberry flavour, raspberry leaves, strawberries, blueberries and natural blackberry flavour

Tea Tasting Notes

As usual for this tasting session because this is a tisane with both fruity notes and hibiscus I prepared this iced because I knew my stomach and taste buds simply wouldn’t enjoy it if it was hot. I still can’t stomach hot berry notes or hibiscus and had I pushed myself to try this hot or I wouldn’t be giving it a fair chance at all so I iced it and I’m really glad that I did. This is definitely a tisane that works best iced and it’s the perfect berries and cream inspired treat for the spring and summer. I’ve had a few berry & cream inspired tisanes over the years but the cream notes in a lot of them was very artificial and often over powered the subtle notes that a lot of berries have so that’s what I expecting when it came to this blend but it was completely the opposite.

If there is one thing Adagio does well it’s cream flavours. I had a few cream blends from them in the past and each and every one has been executed really well. The fruity flavours from the berries paired with the crème reminded me a lot of scones with clotted cream and jam and those of you who know me well will know that I adore scones so this blend is definitely a hit with me. This is a perfect tisane for those of us her love dessert blends and are looking for a refreshing sweet treat throughout the warmer months of this year.

The apple included in this blend add a really nice natural sweetness and for the most part you cant really taste the hibiscus which made this blend even better for me because I’m not the biggest fan of hibiscus as you all know. This also has a nice creamy mouthfeel which I wasn’t expecting at all, I just wonder how they managed to achieve that (the team at Adagio are definitely full of magic). After the first time I tried this I quickly made a second cup and then the next day I made two more and it wasn’t long before a had finished the sample bag I was very kindly sent. This is definitely a tisane I will be breaking my buying ban for because I need some more of this for the warmer months of 2020. I’m just waiting for it to be available again over on the Adagio website.

I’ve tried a few tisanes from Adagio now and so far they have all be absolutely phenomenal and this one will definitely be added to my favourites list along with many other. I can’t wait to try some more of Adagio’s tisanes throughout this year! Which one would you recommend I try next?

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
