Hey there Teacups… Happy Matcha Monday! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea / Matcha Monday post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Adagio’s – Peach Matcha. If you’ve been reading my blog since at least the start of this year you’ll know that I’ve tried a few of Adagio’s Matchas since January and so far I’ve loved them all. I’m definitely very picky when it comes to flavoured Matchas so the fact that I have enjoyed them all so far is so surprising to me. One thing I was a little bit hesitant about going into this tasting session was the fact that I am never normally a huge fan of peach in teas, its just a very hard note to get right and often times when it’s achieved using flavouring it’s far too artificial and overwhelming. Luckily that wasn’t they case with this matcha…
Here’s what Adagio have to say about this Matcha over on their website: ”This high grade Japanese Matcha will leave you feeling peachy keen! A fruity delight, our Peach Matcha has the aroma of a ripe orchard. This sugar-free fruit Matcha is perfect for long summer days or cold winter nights, with all the energy of an espresso without the come down. Drink straight or add a touch of milk for a luxurious Peach Matcha latte.”
Ingredients: matcha tea and natural peach flavour
Tea Tasting Notes
This matcha is absolutely phenomenal just like all of their other flavoured Matchas I have tried. Much like the raspberry in their raspberry matcha the peach flavour is quite prominent but natural and I love it for that. However it doesn’t overpower the matcha but instead it’s sweet fruit notes pair perfectly with the earthy / grassy/ vegetal notes of the matcha.
I’ve never been a huge huge fan of peach flavouring as its never spot on and it’s always a bit too overpowering so I was a little bit worried that, that was going to be the case with this matcha since the peach was quite prominent in the aroma. But luckily that’s not the case with this one the peach element is just right and even thought it’s all down to flavourings it smells and tastes very natural and the aroma once prepared reminded me of fruity summer drinks.
I have had this on it own hot & iced and I’ve also had it as a hot latte and an iced latte. It works well both ways but I think I enjoy it most on its own iced. The peach flavour just works so well when it’s iced and would definitely make a great base for an amazing summer drink. As an iced latte it definitely has a peaches and cream feel and I enjoy it a lot like that as well. You do have to use quite a bit more matcha when preparing it this way to get a good strength that stands its ground once the milk is added.
I think this is definitely a flavoured matcha that is best iced the peach is almost amplified and definitely stands out much more. Its nice hot but phenomenal iced. If you are going to make this as an iced latte I don’t recommend using too much milk though and it does overpower the peach if you use too much.
It has a little sweetness to it and that’s enough for me but if you have more of a sweet tooth than I do you might want to add some honey into this. I can definitely see myself drinking this throughout spring and summer and experimenting with it in different drinking over the next few months. If you’re a fan of fruity flavours I highly recommend giving this a try. This is a matcha I will repurchase time and time again for as long as Adagio stock it.
Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
