Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing World Of Flavorz Rice Pudding White Tea which was very kindly sent to me by Tea Mistress Amanda. While I enjoy white tea I’m not normally a huge fan of it and most of the time I will not reach for it over other kinds of tea like black tea, green tea or oolong but what I do enjoy is a flavoured white tea because when it is done right it’s absolutely delicious. However both pure and blended white tea gives me bad heart burn so when I do drink it I can’t drink too much of it otherwise I’m in pain for a good while.

However when I saw Tea Misses Amanda post about this tea I knew I had to try it because rice pudding is one of my absolute favourite desserts. So when Tea Mistress Amanda offered to send me a sample to try out I couldn’t have been happier. I’ve seen a few companies try and make rice pudding inspired blends but nobody ever seems to get it right. So I was really hoping that this blend would be the exception and replicate the flavours of rice pudding completely and luckily it did….

Here’s what Tea Mistress Amanda & World Of Flavorz have to say about this blend on their website: ”Rice Pudding White Tea combines the warm holiday spices with the grassy notes of white tea to deliver a tea that showcases those familiar Rice Pudding flavours we have all come to love!”

Ingredients: white tea, cinnamon, raisins, coconut, apple, flavour.

Tea Tasting Notes

While the dry leaves didn’t smell overly rice pudding like, they did have a delicious aroma of creamy coconut, cinnamon, currants and apples aromas which I definitely wouldn’t have expected to all go well with each other but because they were all quite subtle they just worked and non of them overpowered the other. Going into steeping the cinnamon and the coconut notes in the aroma were definitely amplified and everything else kind of mellowed out a little bit with the white teas soft floral notes coming through a little bit more.

For this tasting session I had this tea hot on its own, hot with a little honey and iced on its own. I decided not to try this as a latte or and add any milk to it hot or iced because white tea is quite delicate and I didn’t want to overpower it by adding in milk. If this hadn’t had a white tea base and had a bit more of a strong hearty tea as a base I can imagine it would have been a great latte.. But I do think that white tea was definitely the best choice as a base for this blend it’s deliciously delicate and adds a subtle sweetness, a floral underpinning and a smooth mouthfeel.The white tea in this blend is definitely the star of the show but in terms of the additional ingredients the cinnamon and the coconut are definitely the stand out flavours. Even though its didn’t smell like rice pudding it definitely tasted just like it. The coconut provided a nice creamy note and the cinnamon reminded me of the spices on top of a baked rice pudding. Its definitely spot on when it comes to replicating the flavour of a rice pudding and it’s such a relaxing tea to drink. I definitely prefer this hot all in all its really well blended and perfectly balanced.

When I prepared this iced it it was nowhere near as well balanced as it is hot but its still nice to drink. The white tea and the apple are pretty much the only things that come through when it’s nice which is quite refreshing to drink but it’s not rice pudding and I that’s what I want for this blend. I’ve now finished the sample bag that Amanda very kindly sent me to try out but I have enjoyed this blend that much that I’ll definitely purchase it time and time again. I’ve only ever had a few rice pudding inspired blends but this has definitely been the best I’ve tried out of all of them and the only one that has pretty much replicated the flavour of the dessert perfectly.
