Hey there Teacups! As you can tell from the title of this post today’s I’m going to be doing another Let’s Talk Tea review. This time around I’m going to be reviewing Adagio Tea – Peach Oolong blend. As you all know I’ve tried and review quite a few of Adagios tea blend and flavoured matchas for this series so when it came time for me to try another one of their blend and it was a blend with an oolong base I couldn’t have been more excited. I know that peach works well with black tea (especially iced) but I don’t think I’ve ever had a peach oolong blend so I was really excited to see how the two paired together and to see if I enjoyed that pairing more than I enjoyed peach with black tea.

Here’s what Adagio have to say about this blend over on their website: ”This Peach Oolong is made with the darker, more oxidised Taiwanese oolongs, known for their lush, playful flavours. They are deeply floral and often result in a lovely cup that’s almost like a succulent slice of peach. Why not let the tea play with some actual peaches? Our Peach Oolong tea is truly an inspired treat. Fragrant and sweet like a perfectly ripe fruit, with a smooth astringency and lingering floral aroma. So very harmonious, indeed. Please, be a peach – try this oolong!”

Ingredients: oolong tea, natural peach flavour, apple pieces, marigold flowers and peach pieces.

Tea Tasting Notes

Before going into this tasting session I had only heard great things about this blend and after trying it I totally understand why it’s a fan favourite. Upon opening the sample bag I was sent a strong sweet peach aroma hit me instantly and it smelt absolutely beautiful. it’s not quite a natural peach though it does smell more like peaches and cream candies than it does a juicy peach, That’s not a bad thing though because peaches and cream candies are delicious. There must be some kind of vanilla flavouring used in this and I think that was, what was adding the cream element to the aroma. Honestly if I could bottle the aroma of the this when the leaves are dry I would wear it as a perfume everyday its just that good.

Because the Taiwanese Oxidised Oolong base has some natural stone fruit notes to it the peach elements of this blend pair really well with it. It’s naturally very smooth which I’ll be honest I expected as most oolongs like this at very smooth and light. The only way in which this one was different compared to other Taiwanese oxidised oolongs was that this  one was a little bit drying but that was probably down to the natural flavouring used and not the oolong itself. The apple and peach pieces both provide a nice natural sweetness that is strong enough both hot and iced that I didn’t need to add any honey which is always a bonus.I deffinelty think an oxidised oolong was the best choice for the base of this blend because it does come close to tasting light a light black tea which of course pairs brilliantly with peach. I think the use of both peach flavouring and peach pieces was also deffinelty the best choice for this blend too because had it have just been flavouring I don’t think that the peach element would have been too overpowering and artificial. The combination of both bridges the gap and instead of overpowering the oolong it just pairs perfectly with it and makes for a cup of tea that is an absolute pleasure to drink.

I’ve now had this both hot and iced and I can’t pick a favourite because it’s great both ways. Though the peach is a little stronger when it’s iced and that slight dryness does disappear as well. I can deffinelty see myself drinking this iced all throughout the summer though because to me this is the perfect summer flavour profile and I can’t wait to treat myself to a big bag of this and experiment with it for some different drink recipes. This will be yet another blend that I’ll be adding to my must buy list from adagio which grows long and longer every single time I try a new blend from them, they have deffinelty got a lifetime fan in me now.
