Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Adagios – White Tropics blend. A white tea based blend with Rose, pineapple and coconut. With spring & summer coming soon (hopefully) I thought it was about time I started doing some Let’s Talk Tea posts featuring blends that are perfect for both of those seasons. So why not star with the tropical paradise in a cup from Adagio.

Tea Tasting Notes
As I’m sure you all know by now white tea is not my all time favourite yes I drink it ever now and then but its not something I normally reach for over other teas. However I do love pineapple and coocnut so when I saw that this blend has the both of them in it I was so excited to jump into trying it. The dry leaves smelt like toasted coconut and fresh juciy pineapple with a slight floral hint from the white tea base and the rose petals. Normally I wouldn’t have a blend like this hot because I can’t really stomach hot fruit notes and hot white tea gives me really bad heart burn but I wanted to give you all a well rounded review of this blend so I tried this blend hot on its own and iced on its own. Before I had even taken a sip of this both hot and iced I knew it was going to be quite sweet so I didn’t see the need for honey and this is definitely not a blend I would add milk to.
When prepared hot the white tea and the rose are the stars of the show with the coconut and pineapple being much more subtle than I thought they would have been as they seemed to give off quite a strong tropical aroma in the dry leaves. The white tea gives this blend sweet honey like notes, a light vegetal note, a slight floral note which is amplified by the rose petals and an earthy after taste. This was actually quite nice hot but I would have loved to have been able to taste the pineapple and coconut a bit more. Surprisingly after drinking a cup of this hot I didn’t get the bad heartburn that I usually do so maybe this blend is a turning point for me when it comes to white tea.
When cold Steeped / Iced this is much more my cup of tea the white tea notes that were present during the hot steep were still there which I was pleased about but the rose was much more subdued and the pineapple and the coconut stood out a lot more. As I said earlier in this post pineapple and coconut are two of my favourite things to to have them come through a little more in the iced version made me very happy. The coconut still comes across as a toasted coconut note to me and even though it is a flavouring that provides this note it was in no way shape or form artificial and actually one of my favourite things about this blend / and the same goes for the pineapple though I think if I do buy this again I would add in some extra coconut and pineapple dried because i would love those notes to be stronger.
This is definitely a tea I think would be perfect for spring/summer and once I lift my tea buying ban if its still warm I’ll definitely order some more of this. Something tells me I could make great tea ice pops or a tea based mocktail with this and I will definitely go on to experiment with this tea. It was an absolute pleasure to drink and I’m so thankful that Adagio gave me the chance to give it a try.
