Kimberley's Kyusu

Hey there Teacups! It’s time again for another Let’s Talk Tea post, this time around it features Edgecumbe’s Tea & Coffee’s Earl Grey Darjeeling. When I saw this in the package that Edgecumbe’s sent I couldn’t have been happier and I’m sure by now you all know why, it’s no secret that I’m crazy for Earl Grey and recently I was introduced to Darjeeling Earl Grey by a Tearoom in Manchester and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. It was very hard for me not to just jump straight into trying this the moment it arrived and since I opened it to try it for this review I’ve drank it every morning, It will be a miracle if have any left by the end of this month.

Leaves

The scent of these leaves when dry is very bergamot filled, it’s a strong fresh scent that is draws you in and captives your senses from the moment you open the packet. You know from the aroma alone that is going to infuse to an excellent brew. Aside from the stand out bergamot note in the aroma, there was also a slight fruitiness and a slight sweetness that really intrigued me – I didn’t get much aroma wise from the Darjeeling but that’s because the bergamot is such a strong note that nothing else can really come through.

Tea Tasting Notes

You probably won’t be surprised to hear that I absolutely loved this blend. Both Darjeeling and Earl Grey are my favourite black teas so to have them paired together in one beautifully balanced blend is amazing. While you can’t beat a classic Earl Grey this certainly comes close and It’s certainly a blend I’ll be repurchasing time and time again. Out of the handful of Darjeeling Earl Grey’s I’ve had this one is the best of them all so far, it will certainly take something special to beat this one. The bright citrus notes from the bergamot carried through into the taste an is strong but not overpowering, so you can still taste the lovely fruity current  notes of the Darjeeling. Sometimes I do find Darjeeling can be quite drying in its mouthfeel and while I did find that was the case with this blend it was nowhere near as bad as it normally is with Darjeeling. This blend is perfect with a little honey and a slice of lemon, so far I’ve only had this warm but I can imagine that I would be nice iced with lemon as well.
