Let’s Talk Tea – Global Tea Hut – 2017 Evening Sky Purple Red Tea | Review

Hey There Teacups! It’s time again for another Let’s Talk Tea post, this time around it features Global Tea Hut’s 2017 “Evening Sky” Purple Red Tea. I’ve been following Global Tea Hut over on Instagram for a while, so you can only imagine how excited I was when a member of their team contacted me to ask if I wanted to try some of their tea. It’s always such an honour to be contacted by companies I admire and I’m honestly so thankful for every opportunity I am given.

To me this just looked like a black tea really the only difference is that the dry leaves have little flecks of purple and burgundy red to them, but you would have to really be looking to notice them. The aroma of these leaves was also like a black tea but did have a little bit of a floral note too it as well. My only hopes when smelling this for the first time were that, that floral note was going to carry through into the taste.

Tea Tasting Notes

Flavours: Creamy – Floral – Malt – Sweet – Vanilla – Caramel

This was a very surprising tea for me having never tried a Purple/Red tea before I wasn’t to sure what to expect. I was quickly calmed by the fast that it was very similar to a black tea just a little bit smoother. While it had all the classic notes of a black tea like Malt, Wood and a honey sweet underpinning to it, it also had a floral note and a caramel like aftertaste that took me completely by surprise.

I’m honestly gutted that I only have a little bit of this left because it’s not often that teas take me by surprise anymore and when they do I want to make the most of it. I’ll be ordering some more of this if I can because it’s far to good not to have in my tea collection. For me this is quite naturally sweet, and I didn’t add any sweetener at all but as I always say try it yourself first and add sweetener to taste if you need too. I honestly think you would destroy this tea if you added sweetener to it though so if you can help it I would hold off on putting it in.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5

You can find out more about The Global Tea Hut and purchase this tea for yourself here. As always Teacups if you have any questions at all either stick them in the comments or send them to me in twitter or Instagram (@teaisawishblog) and I’ll answer them as soon as I can.

Speak to you all on Monday. Happy Steeping – Kimberley
