Hey there Teacups! You all know that one of my tea goals for this year is to make sure I try more white teas so when a package full of amazing Darjeeling teas (most of them white teas) arrived at my house sent by the amazing team at Golden Tips I couldn’t have been more excited to see what was in there and jump straight in to trying them all. I love Darjeeling teas, but I’ve never had the chance to try a white Darjeeling tea so a lot of what was in the package they sent I had never tried before so my journey with Golden Tip teas is going to be full of new experiences for me. I had such a hard time trying which tea to try/review in the end I couldn’t decide so I closed my eyes and picked one out of the box (that’s how I’ve been making a lot of tea decisions lately and its lead me down a great path so far, so I think I’ll keep doing it)
Dry Leaves
Sweet – Honey – Floral – Fresh – LightWhat I tend to find with most white teas is that they have amazing aromas, but they are very light aromas and they’re never very strong which really gets on my nerves but this one is different and has such a strong aroma that is to die for! I’m so used to having to search for a white tea aroma that I was slightly shocked when I opened the bag and I was hit with the most delicious sweet floral scent that made my mouth water. I treat the aroma of a tea like a first impression so when I aroma alone can make my mouth water you know it’s made a lasting impression. (I should let the aroma alone make decisions you all know I never normally do but wow this one is just far too good)
Tea Tasting Notes
This is THE BEST unblended white tea that I have ever tried over all my tea drinking/reviewing years… THE BEST. Seriously it’s going to take something extra special to beat this one it completely blew me away and I’m so glad I have some of it left and I’ll certain be buying a lot more as well. Normally white tea gives me really bad heart burn and I think that’s why I tend to shy away from drinking it but with this one for the first time in a long time I was able to enjoy a white tea and not be in a lot of pain afterwards and that was amazing for me. It was a lot stronger than I thought it was going to be and much more powerful that any white tea I’ve tried in the past. Looking back on my tasting session with this tea I would have probably used half the amount of leaves that I used just because its so strong that you really don’t need to use much to still have a party in your teacup. The floral note was the strongest of them all in the aroma so I was expecting the same in the taste but that wasn’t the case it mellowed out quite a bit which helped to make sure they everything was perfect balanced. Had the floral note been much stronger I feel like it would have overpowered the delicate sweet honeysuckle notes and ruined it completely. Mouthfeel wise this is a very light and delicate tea that dances on your tongue it such a pleasant tea to drink and not drying at all. I’m so incredibly thankful that I was given the opportunity to experience this tea, it will sit in my top spot for a long time I’m sure.
Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
