Hey there Teacups! I hope you’re all doing well, I’m back today with another Let’s Talk tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Aura Chai’s Chocolate Chai Latte blend. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you’ll know that last month I tried Aura Chai’s Original Latte blend and I loved it and I haven’t stopped raving about it on my Instagram and twitter ever since. So, when it came to trying their chocolate chai late blend I honestly couldn’t have been more excited. Their original blend is one of the best chai blends I’ve ever had and it was incredibly indulgent, and with the blend being chocolate based I knew that the indulgence level was going to be taken to a whole different level and I was ready for it.
Here’s what Aura Chai has to say about this blend on their website: ‘’The authentic Ayurvedic blend has benefits for both mind and body – a soothing, calming elixir that also reenergises and rejuvenates. We use organic, sustainably farmed Peruvian cacao – raw and unroasted to maximise its health benefits. Cacao is a rich source of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins including magnesium, iron potassium and zinc.’’
Dry Leaves
This bend has a mouth-watering dry aroma the chocolate is the first and strongest note I picked out and after a few minutes the spices started to come through as well the strongest by far being the cinnamon and star anise. It smells just like their original blend spice wise but that added chocolate element really make it extra special. I wasn’t expecting the chocolate notes to be very strong in the aroma, but I was proved well and truly wrong, my only worry was that because they were so strong in the aroma that they were going to over power everything taste wise.
Tea Tasting Notes
Just when I thought I couldn’t love anything more than Aura Chai’s original blend I tried this, and my mind was changed completely. I honestly think that I enjoyed the chocolate Chai latte blend more the original and I really wasn’t expecting that. It’s so incredibly indulgent and is such a perfect sweet treat both hot and iced. I was a little worried before trying this that the cacao was going to overpower everything and none of the spices would come through, but I was completely wrong, and every single aspect of this blend is perfect balanced. Had this been any other chai blend I don’t think that would be the same it’s completely down to the fact that all the spices that Aura Chai are whole spices so they all thrive.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again normally when you see a chocolate blend it is either going to be absolutely amazing or a complete flop there just isn’t an in-between and I can happily say that this is one of the amazing ones and the chocolate element of the blend is everything you could ever want it to be. It’s rich, naturally quite sweet and incredibly creamy and it’s what makes this blend as indulgent as it is. Because the blend is quite naturally sweet I would normally suggest not adding any sweeter like honey but with this blend just a little bit of honey really amplifies not only the chocolate element but the spices as well. I tried this hot and iced for this tasting session and while the iced version was nice it was nowhere near as heart warming and indulgent as the hot version so I would definitely recommend having it as a hot latte.
All of Aura Chai’s products are ethically produced and vegan friendly. They are also completely sugar free, so they don’t contain any artificial sweeteners or preservatives. Their recipe is gluten free but unfortunately, they cannot guarantee that their products are free from allergens as they are produced in an environment that contains sesame, milk, Eggs, Nuts, Soy & Gluten. Another amazing thing about Aura Chai is the fact that they are an earth friendly company, their bags can be recycled and their chai mix can be composted after use, you all know that tea companies that care about the environment as well as good tea are always put straight into my good books. It’s nice to see so many more companies making changes to make sure they are helping to take care of the earth.I honestly can’t recommend Aura Chai’s blends enough if you are looking for a truly authentic chai blend they are the company that you should go to. Both of their blends are the closest to authentic chai I have ever tried, and I’ll be buying so much more of both blends to drink throughout the winter. The first time I tried this I was full of a cold and my spirits were almost instantly lifted as soon as I took my first sip there is just something so heart warming about their blends that you can’t help but smile when you drink it. It’s heart-warming, indulgent and is the perfect replacement for a sweet treat (and much better for you as well). I would suggest using oatly barista milk when you make lattes with this blend it makes for such a creamy latte and a brilliantly sturdy froth to boot.
Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
